Instagram AI Label Remover & Cleaner

Instagram's AI info label is Meta's, shared with Facebook, and it replaced the older “Made with AI” wording in 2024. Meta applies it from industry-standard indicators found in the file, chiefly C2PA Content Credentials and IPTC metadata, and from the disclosure you choose when posting. Nothing is printed on the picture; the label is drawn from information attached to it.

Meta also separates generated media from media that was only edited with AI. For edited content, AI info moved into the post's menu, while content Meta identifies as generated keeps the label on the post itself. Either way the trigger is usually the same thing: a tag your editing app wrote into the export.

A photo straight from your phone rarely carries an AI declaration. The export you edit it into might. A Generative Fill patch in Photoshop, an AI background swap, a sky replacement or a quick fix in ChatGPT can each leave a source declaration in the saved file, and the picture looks almost exactly the same as before.

That is why the check runs on the file you are actually going to post, after the last crop and filter. Two exports of the same photo from two apps can carry completely different metadata, and the app's name tells you nothing about which one does.

Every image in a carousel is its own file with its own metadata, so check each one rather than the first. A Story image is checked like a feed photo. For a Reel, the video export is the file that matters, and a custom cover is a separate image that needs its own check.

Supported files are JPEG, PNG, WebP, TIFF and DNG photos and MP4 or MOV video up to 200 MB. That is the cleaner's limit, not Instagram's upload specification, so export in whatever format you normally post.

A label on a published post belongs to that upload, and no file you clean afterwards changes it. If the post was labeled by mistake, Instagram's own options on the post are the route; if you would rather repost, a cleaned copy is the file to use for the new upload.

Two other things get called the same name. A disclosure you switched on yourself is a setting, not a tag in the file. An AI label on your profile, rather than on one post, is an account matter. Neither is something a file cleaner can reach.

Meta uses its own detection alongside file metadata, so removing the tags takes away the signal in the file, not every possible reason for a label. Cleaning does not remove a visible watermark, a username stamped on a downloaded Reel, or invisible watermarks embedded in the pixels, and there is no evidence either way that it changes reach.
